Terrance’s Skill Sets
Product Strategy
When it comes to building software, it must be a very deliberate thought process to determine the market, the segmentation, and the specific offering you are going to provide. Terrance can quickly see the whole picture, understand competitors, and see where the product beach heads lay. He utilizes a three pronged approach of comparative, differentiation, and segmentation.
Product Market Fit
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of any business is ensuring that you have product market fit. Once you have the right strategy, getting fit requires hustle, persistence, and a high emotional IQ to ensure that you are building a solution to a problem that exists. Terrance advises many companies about where their products may be missing the mark. A key tool used for this is getting Voice Of The Customer (VOC) early and often.
Agile Experience
Terrance has been a team member, scrum master, and product owner on many projects. In addition to running teams, he has built training programs to ensure that people are certified and following core Agile practices while ensuring that the mission is running optimally!
UX Design
As a follower of design thinking, Terrance introduced Google Design Sprints (GSD) to many companies and incorporated them into every team’s process. By following design thinking principles, teams can deliver value fast and build tools that people want. Terrance is fluid in many of the modern design tools to include Sketch, Adobe Suite, Innvision App, and multiple tools to build effective user experiences.
Full Stack Development
Terrance has worked on just about every technology stack and programming language (but is partial to Java and Python). In addition to experience with API development and front end implementation, he has deep DevOps experience which includes designing continuous deployment environments, setting up automated testing, and refining metrics to detect and alert on small problems before they become a big problems. Terrance has been using Platforms As A Service (PAAS) like Amazon Web Services since they were first introduced and routinely tests and evaluates new services as they become available.
